Ouxi C80 Family Edition

The Ouxi C80 Family Edition is the fatbike you ride together.

With an optional rear seat you take a second person along, and up to a total load of 150 kg there is still room for luggage. The 250 W motor gives pedal assistance up to 25 km/h, so you are riding an ordinary electric bicycle: no driving licence, no registration plate and no helmet requirement.

The high step-through and the 75 cm frame size make the bike suitable for anyone between 150 and 200 cm. That way two people of different heights share the same fatbike, from the school run to the ride to work.

Why choose the C80 Family Edition?

250 W motor with pedal assistance up to 25 km/h

48V / 15Ah battery, which is 720 Wh

Range up to 75 km (about 60 km on medium assistance)

From empty to full in 4 to 6 hours

Wide 20 inch tyres and a springy suspension fork

Hydraulic disc brakes and 7 Shimano gears

High step-through, 75 cm frame, suitable from 150 to 200 cm

Own weight 36 kg, maximum load 150 kg

Suitable for 2 people with an optional rear seat

Comfortable on 20 inch

The wide 20 inch tyres grip on cobbles, gravel and forest tracks, and the springy suspension fork absorbs kerbs and bumps. With 7 Shimano gears you decide how hard you pedal, even with a passenger on the back. Count on 36 kg of own weight: the C80 Family Edition is built to ride, not to carry up a flight of stairs every day.

Battery and range

The 48V 15Ah battery delivers 720 Wh. On medium assistance that takes you about 60 km. Ride economically and it rises to around 75 km; with high assistance, a passenger on the back and a lot of stopping and starting you are left with about 45 km. Charging from empty to full takes 4 to 6 hours, so a night on the charger is enough.

Safety and the law

Do you need a driving licence or a helmet? No. With 250 W and pedal assistance up to 25 km/h the C80 Family Edition counts as an ordinary electric bicycle. The hydraulic disc brakes stay easy to modulate, even with weight on the back. Technically it can be tuned to 45 km/h with a separate part, but that changes the legal status of the bike: on public roads 25 km/h of pedal assistance remains the maximum, and riding tuned is only allowed on private or closed ground.

Warranty and delivery

You get 2 years of warranty on the frame and 1 year on the battery and the moving parts. You choose whether you receive the fatbike boxed and assemble it yourself, or fully assembled and ready to ride at your door.

In short: a roomy fatbike for the whole family, ready for the daily ride.

For both of us

My husband and I both ride it. He is tall and I am short, but with a bit of adjusting to the saddle and the handlebars it suits us both. We have been using it for a few months now and nothing has gone wrong.

Ouxi C80 Family Edition – Black: 720 Wh, 20 inch and room for two

The Ouxi C80 Family Edition in black rolls on 20 inch fatbike tyres, with a 250 W motor and a 48V/15Ah battery (720 Wh). In practice: pedal assist up to 25 km/h, an average of 60 km per charge and a maximum load of 150 kg. With the optional rear seat you take a second person along.

That is what makes it a family bike: first a child to school, then on to work. You order it at FatbikeKlaar.nl, for Belgium via FatbikeKlaar.be and in English via FatbikeKlaar.com. All models are in our fatbike overview.

Why the C80 Family Edition is a good choice

Performance

  • Motor: 250 W, pedal assist up to 25 km/h.
  • Battery: 48V / 15Ah, in other words 720 Wh.
  • Range: 60 km on average, 45 km on high and 75 km on low assist.
  • Charging time: 4 to 6 hours from empty to full.
  • Brakes: hydraulic disc brakes, easy to modulate with weight on the back.
  • Wheels and gears: 20 inch tyres, 7 Shimano gears.

Safety and the law

With 250 W and 25 km/h the C80 Family Edition counts as an ordinary electric bicycle. No driving licence, no registration plate, no helmet requirement. Tuning is technically possible up to 45 km/h, but that changes the status of the bike.

The C80 Family Edition in daily use

Comfort and riding position

75 cm frame size, a high frame entry and suitable from 150 to 200 cm: two parents of different heights share the same bike. The sprung front fork takes the sting out of kerbs and cobbles. The 150 kg load adds up rider, passenger and shopping together. At 36 kg of its own weight, you will not be carrying it down to a cellar store every day.

Battery, display and charging

720 Wh stands for roughly 60 km per charge on medium assistance, and up to 75 km in the lowest setting. With a child on the back, plenty of stopping and pulling away, you end up closer to 45 km. Charging takes 4 to 6 hours, so one night on the charger is enough. Which display your own bike has determines which replacement display fits.

Tuning: what is possible and what is allowed

The bike is delivered restricted to 25 km/h. Tuning is done with separate parts, up to 45 km/h. The 250 W motor goes with the tunable Ouxi V8/C80 controller with a red motor plug; check the plug colour on your own motor first. We do not give 6 months of warranty on that controller. The alternative is a tunable display with a killswitch, which puts the bike back to 25 km/h in one action. The fitting is described in our article on tuning the C80 with the HC80 display; complete sets are with the tuning kits. Riding tuned is only allowed on private or enclosed property; on public roads a maximum of 25 km/h pedal assist applies.

Service, warranty and delivery

On the frame you get 3 years of warranty, on the battery and the moving parts 1 year. You choose delivery boxed or assembled. Ordered before 23:59, it is delivered the next day in the Netherlands. We deliver to Belgium and Germany too, without a fixed delivery time.

Parts and accessories for the C80 Family Edition

The C80 Family Edition compared with our other fatbikes

C80 Family Edition versus QMWheel V20 Pro

On paper they sit close together: 20 inch, 48V/15Ah, 60 km on average, 150 kg and two people with a rear seat. The difference is in the ordering: the QMWheel V20 Pro you choose straight away as a restricted or tunable version and it exists in three colours. The C80 Family Edition weighs 36 kg against 34 kg.

C80 Family Edition versus Ouxi GT2000

The Ouxi GT2000 is a bike for one person: 24 inch wheels, 48V/30Ah (1440 Wh) and 80 km average range. Tuned it reaches 60 km/h, with a killswitch and a throttle that gives 6 km/h while restricted. With a child on the back you choose the C80 Family Edition.

C80 Family Edition versus Ouxi V8 Ultra Max

The Ouxi V8 Ultra Max has two batteries (1440 Wh), 120 km average range and suspension front and rear. Against that stand 40 kg and 5 to 7 hours of charging. The C80 Family Edition is 4 kg lighter and enough for rides within 60 km.

We supply this model in black only; there are no sister colours.

Ordering the C80 Family Edition at FatbikeKlaar

You order the C80 Family Edition in black as the restricted version with 25 km/h. If you want a tunable version, order the matching controller or the matching display with it. For delivery you choose between boxed, to assemble yourself, and assembled, ready to ride at the door.

Frequently asked questions about the C80 Family Edition

Do I need a driving licence or a helmet for the C80 Family Edition?

No. With 250 W and 25 km/h of pedal assist it is an ordinary electric bicycle: no driving licence, registration plate or helmet needed. That changes as soon as you tune it.

How far do I get with a child on the back?

The stated range is 60 km at medium assist, with a spread of 45 to 75 km. With a passenger, a headwind and a lot of stopping you count on the lower end.

Am I allowed to tune the C80 Family Edition?

Technically it is possible up to 45 km/h with a tunable controller or a tunable display. On public roads 25 km/h of pedal assist remains the maximum. Riding tuned is only allowed on private or enclosed property.

What warranty does it have and what maintenance does it ask for?

You get 3 years of warranty on the frame and 1 year on the battery and moving parts. Keep the tyres at pressure and check the brakes regularly, certainly with two people on board. Do not store the battery empty.

Can I take a child along on the C80 Family Edition?

The bike is suitable for 2 people with an optional rear seat. Combine that with folding footrests, so your passenger sits stably. Stay within the 150 kg, luggage included.
