Not sure about the Ouxi GT2000? Then you probably have the same questions as everyone else: is it restricted or unlockable, how does the throttle work, what does that killswitch do and what are you actually allowed to do with it on the road? In this article we lay it all out honestly. The GT2000 is a sturdy e-fatbike for 1 person, with 24 inch off-road tyres and a large 1440Wh battery. It comes in two generations: the original GT2000 and the updated GT2000 2.0. You can also find them in our overview of all fatbikes.

Restricted (250W) or unlockable: the two versions
When you order, you choose two things: the version (Restricted or Unlockable) and the delivery (In box or Assembled). Prices are the same for all colours and both generations:
| Variant | Price |
|---|---|
| Restricted (250W) / In box | €1,498 |
| Restricted (250W) / Assembled | €1,549 |
| Unlockable / In box | €1,698 |
| Unlockable / Assembled | €1,749 |
Restricted (250W) means: a 250 W motor, pedal assistance up to 25 km/h and a throttle up to 6 km/h. That makes the bike road-legal straight away. You don't need to adjust or unlock anything.
Unlockable comes with the 6 km/h throttle and a killswitch. In restricted mode it rides exactly like the restricted version. In unlocked mode, both the throttle and the pedal assistance go up to 60 km/h, but that is only intended for private or closed-off grounds. We give no manufacturer or store warranty on Unlockable. All unlockable models are listed under unlockable fatbikes.
The throttle: 6 km/h and what the law says
Every GT2000 has a throttle. On the restricted version it goes up to 6 km/h. That's no coincidence, because that's what the rules say:
- The Netherlands: an electric bike has a motor of max. 250 watts, pedal assistance stops at 25 km/h and without pedalling you can't go faster than 6 km/h. So a throttle is allowed, as long as it doesn't take you faster than 6 km/h without pedalling. If it goes faster, it's no longer a regular electric bike. For an electric bike you don't need a driving licence, number plate or mandatory third-party insurance (source: rijksoverheid.nl, 3-10-2026).
- Germany: a throttle may only work as a push or start-up assist up to 6 km/h; otherwise the motor of a pedelec may only assist while you pedal (source: gesetze-im-internet.de, StVG § 1 Abs. 3, 3-10-2026).
The killswitch: how it works
The unlockable version comes with a killswitch. On a bike you bought as Unlockable, you use it to switch freely between restricted and unlocked:
- Killswitch on = restricted: throttle 6 km/h, pedal assistance 25 km/h.
- Killswitch off = unlocked: up to 60 km/h, only on private or closed-off grounds.
- You can switch back and forth as often as you like. You don't need any software or a laptop, and you don't lose the unlocked mode by restricting it.
Note the difference with the restricted version: a bike you bought as Restricted (250W) has no killswitch and can't simply be unlocked. For that you need an unlockable controller and an unlockable display (see below).
Important: on public roads, always set the killswitch to restricted. Only then do you ride the way the law allows for an electric bike: pedal assistance up to 25 km/h and the throttle up to 6 km/h.
What is and isn't allowed with the GT2000?
- Allowed: riding on public roads in restricted mode, with pedal assistance up to 25 km/h and the throttle up to 6 km/h.
- Allowed: riding unlocked up to 60 km/h on private or closed-off grounds.
- Not allowed: riding unlocked on public roads. Not even briefly, not even on a quiet road.
- Note on warranty: our warranty (up to 3 years on the frame, 1 year on the battery and moving parts) only applies to Restricted (250W) + Assembled. On Unlockable bikes and bikes delivered In box we give no manufacturer or store warranty. Your statutory rights in case of a defect always remain in force. Read the full warranty policy.
GT2000 vs GT2000 2.0: what's new?
The GT2000 2.0 has the same basis as the GT2000: 250 W, restricted or unlockable, the same battery and the same dimensions. What's new:
- An extra lock at the rear to secure the bike when parking.
- The free OUXI app, with features such as your fatbike's location, ride data and settings on your phone.
- A redesigned display that shows speed, battery level and ride information more clearly.
The original GT2000 is available in black, orange and green. The GT2000 2.0 comes in black or orange.
Already own a GT2000? These parts fit
Do you have a restricted GT2000 and want to make it unlockable for use on private grounds? Then you need both an unlockable controller and an unlockable display. One of the two is not enough.
Be aware of what that means: after the conversion the bike is no longer covered by warranty, and riding unlocked on public roads is not allowed, because then it's no longer a regular electric bike.
- Ouxi GT2000 Controller Unlockable (€179): according to the product info only for the GT2000 (1st generation), 5 cables, with alarm; supplied with controller and killswitch. If you have a GT2000 2.0, check first via the help page whether this controller fits.
- Ouxi GT2000 Display Unlockable with Killswitch (HC80) (€88): fits the GT2000 and GT2000 2.0, water-resistant and plug & play.
- Ouxi GT2000 Display Unlockable NFC with Killswitch (HC80) (€94).
The same applies here: unlocked only on private or closed-off grounds. You'll find other sets under unlock kits. For maintenance we stock the original GT2000 charger (€69).
In box or assembled, and delivery
In box is the cheapest option: you assemble the bike yourself, but you get no manufacturer or store warranty (your statutory rights do still apply). If you choose Assembled, we build the bike for you and you receive it ready to ride. The difference is €51.
We deliver the bike with our own delivery service: €59 in the Netherlands, €79 in Belgium and €239 in Germany. Separate parts are shipped for €7.95 (NL), €11.95 (BE) or €13.95 (DE), free from €150. Order today, delivered tomorrow: order before 23:59 and it's at your door the next working day; for a bike going to Germany, we arrange the delivery time with you via WhatsApp. All details are in the shipping policy.
Frequently asked questions about the Ouxi GT2000
Can I ride the GT2000 on public roads?
Yes, in restricted mode: pedal assistance up to 25 km/h and the throttle up to 6 km/h. On the unlockable version you set the killswitch to restricted for this.
How fast does the GT2000 go when unlocked?
Up to 60 km/h, with both throttle and pedal assistance. That is only allowed on private or closed-off grounds.
Do I get a warranty on my GT2000?
Our warranty only applies to Restricted (250W) + Assembled: up to 3 years on the frame and 1 year on the battery and moving parts. On Unlockable and In box we give no manufacturer or store warranty. Your statutory rights in case of a defect always remain in force.
What do I need to make my restricted GT2000 unlockable?
An unlockable controller and an unlockable display. Not sure what you need? Ask your question via our help page.
Our advice
If you mainly ride on public roads, choose Restricted (250W) + Assembled: legal, ready to ride and with warranty. If you also want to use the GT2000 faster on private or closed-off grounds, Unlockable is an option, but without our warranty and always with the killswitch set to restricted on the road. Want the rear lock, the OUXI app and the new display? Then go for the GT2000 2.0.
