Can I have my fatbike tuned by you?

Our fatbikes are tunable, and we also supply individual parts to upgrade your fatbike. Please note: tuning is only permitted on private property, not on public roads.

Is a fatbike still legal?

Yes, a fatbike that complies with current regulations (max. 25 km/h pedal assist and a 250W motor) is fully legal on public roads. Tuned models may only be used on private property.

Do you need a driver’s license for a fatbike?

You don’t need a driver’s license for a regular fatbike with pedal assist up to 25 km/h. You do for tuned models above that limit. Keep in mind those are only allowed on private property.

Do you need a helmet on a fatbike?

A helmet is strongly recommended for your own safety. From 2026, a helmet requirement will be introduced for certain fatbike categories.

Can I derestrict my QMWheel V20 Cross?

Yes. With the derestrictable controller with the red motor plug (21A, 500W) your V20 Cross goes up to 45 km/h instead of 25 km/h. The plugs fit the original wiring exactly, so you can install it yourself. Riding derestricted is only allowed on private property.

How fast does a derestricted V20 Cross go?

With the derestrictable controller the V20 Cross reaches up to 45 km/h. As standard it is limited to 25 km/h pedal assist. Riding above 25 km/h is only allowed on private property, not on public roads.

How fast does the Ouxi GT2000 go when derestricted?

Derestricted, the GT2000 reaches up to 60 km/h, both on the throttle and on the pedal assist. Limited, it does 6 km/h on the throttle and 25 km/h on the pedal assist. The derestricted mode is intended for private property.

What does the kill switch on the GT2000 do?

The kill switch lets you switch between limited and derestricted riding yourself. It is included as standard, so there is nothing extra to order. Only switch it over on private property.

What does derestricting a fatbike cost?

A derestrictable controller costs from 98 euro for the V20 family and the Ouxi models, and 179 euro for the GT2000. Fitting it yourself usually takes less than half an hour. Not sure which part fits your fatbike?

Can I tune an Ouxi C80 Mini or QMWheel V20 Mini?

No. The Ouxi C80 Mini, C63 Mini and the QMWheel V20 Mini cannot be tuned. There is no tunable controller or tunable display for these models; they stay limited to 25 km/h. Do you want to tune after all? Then have a look at the Ouxi C80, V8 or GT2000 and the QMWheel V20 or V20 Pro.

This version is supplied with the 6 km/h throttle and the included killswitch. With that killswitch you switch between two modes yourself:

Restricted: throttle 6 km/h, pedal assist 25 km/h
Tuned: throttle and pedal assist up to 60 km/h

Riding tuned is only permitted on private or closed-off property. On public roads pedal assist up to 25 km/h is the maximum — so always set the killswitch to restricted there.

Ouxi GT2000 2.0 – Orange: extra lock, OUXI app and the same 1440 Wh battery

The Ouxi GT2000 2.0 in orange is the second generation of the GT2000. The figures stay the same: a 48 V / 30 Ah battery with 1440 Wh, 24 inch off-road tyres, hydraulic disc brakes and a maximum load of 150 kg. What has been added is in security and electronics: an extra lock at the rear and a matching OUXI app. You choose yourself between Restricted (250W) and Tunable, and between delivery boxed or assembled. What is new compared with the first GT2000

Rear lock: an extra lock at the rear of the bike, with which you secure it when you park it.
OUXI app: a free app with the bike, showing among other things the location of your fatbike, your ride data and settings from your phone.
Renewed display: a more modern display that shows speed, battery level and ride information more clearly.

According to the manufacturer the app also comes with a built-in tracker and an alarm function; exactly which functions you see can differ per version. Just as important is what does not change: the same motor, the same 1440 Wh battery, the same hydraulic disc brakes, the same 24 inch tyres and the same weight of 34 kg. Anyone who knows the GT2000 rides the 2.0 straight away as they are used to.

Tuning: what is possible and what is allowed

If you choose Tunable, the controller, the 6 km/h throttle and the killswitch are already fitted. With that killswitch you switch the bike over yourself: restricted means throttle up to 6 km/h and pedal assist up to 25 km/h, tuned means throttle and pedal assist up to 60 km/h. Riding tuned is only allowed on private or closed property; on the public road a maximum of 25 km/h pedal assist applies, so always set the killswitch to restricted there. If you chose Restricted (250W), you can still fit the separate GT2000 controller later on; more options are at tuning kits and the explanation in tuning the GT2000.

Parts, service and warranty

You get 3 years warranty on the frame and 1 year on the battery and moving parts. Parts of the GT2000 fit the 2.0 in most cases; the display and the electronics around the new lock are the exception, so ask first if in doubt. Also have a look at chargers, inner tubes and locks if you want to secure the bike further. If you choose delivery boxed, you assemble it yourself; with assembled we build it ready to ride.

Frequently asked questions about the GT2000 2.0

What is the difference with the ordinary GT2000?

The 2.0 has an extra lock at the rear, a matching OUXI app and a renewed display. Motor, battery, brakes, suspension and tyres have stayed the same.

Do I need a driving licence or a helmet?

No. In the restricted setting the bike counts as an electric bicycle with pedal assist up to 25 km/h: no driving licence, helmet obligation or registration plate. Riding tuned is only allowed on private or closed property.

How far do I get on the battery?

Count on 80 km with average assist, up to 100 km on low and around 60 km on high assist. A full charge takes 5 to 6 hours.

Does the lock work together with the app?

The lock at the rear is a lock on the bike itself; the app is mainly intended for the location, the ride data and the settings. Exactly which functions you see can differ per version and firmware version.
