Can I have my fatbike tuned by you?

Our fatbikes are tunable, and we also supply individual parts to upgrade your fatbike. Please note: tuning is only permitted on private property, not on public roads.

Is a fatbike still legal?

Yes, a fatbike that complies with current regulations (max. 25 km/h pedal assist and a 250W motor) is fully legal on public roads. Tuned models may only be used on private property.

What are the new fatbike rules for 2026?

Do you need a driver’s license for a fatbike?

You don’t need a driver’s license for a regular fatbike with pedal assist up to 25 km/h. You do for tuned models above that limit. Keep in mind those are only allowed on private property.

Do you need a helmet on a fatbike?

A helmet is strongly recommended for your own safety. From 2026, a helmet requirement will be introduced for certain fatbike categories.

Can I derestrict my QMWheel V20 Cross?

Yes. With the derestrictable controller with the red motor plug (21A, 500W) your V20 Cross goes up to 45 km/h instead of 25 km/h. The plugs fit the original wiring exactly, so you can install it yourself. Riding derestricted is only allowed on private property.

How fast does a derestricted V20 Cross go?

With the derestrictable controller the V20 Cross reaches up to 45 km/h. As standard it is limited to 25 km/h pedal assist. Riding above 25 km/h is only allowed on private property, not on public roads.

How fast does the Ouxi GT2000 go when derestricted?

Derestricted, the GT2000 reaches up to 60 km/h, both on the throttle and on the pedal assist. Limited, it does 6 km/h on the throttle and 25 km/h on the pedal assist. The derestricted mode is intended for private property.

What does the kill switch on the GT2000 do?

The kill switch lets you switch between limited and derestricted riding yourself. It is included as standard, so there is nothing extra to order. Only switch it over on private property.

What does derestricting a fatbike cost?

A derestrictable controller costs from 98 euro for the V20 family and the Ouxi models, and 179 euro for the GT2000. Fitting it yourself usually takes less than half an hour. Not sure which part fits your fatbike?

Can I tune an Ouxi C80 Mini or QMWheel V20 Mini?

No. The Ouxi C80 Mini, C63 Mini and the QMWheel V20 Mini cannot be tuned. There is no tunable controller or tunable display for these models; they stay limited to 25 km/h. Do you want to tune after all? Then have a look at the Ouxi C80, V8 or GT2000 and the QMWheel V20 or V20 Pro.

QMWheel V20 Pro – Light Grey: 720 Wh, 150 kg maximum load and room for two

The QMWheel V20 Pro in light grey has 20 inch wheels, a 250W motor and a 48V / 15Ah battery of 720 Wh. That means pedal assist up to 25 km/h, an average range of 60 km and a 150 kg maximum load. With that maximum load, an extended two-person saddle and an optional rear seat, the two of you ride together.

Safety and the law

In the Restricted (250W) version the V20 Pro is legal on public roads straight away: no licence, no helmet, no registration plate, no insurance. The assist stops at 25 km/h and the throttle helps up to 6 km/h when pulling away. Tuned riding is only allowed on private or enclosed property; on public roads a maximum of 25 km/h pedal assist applies. With a child on the back, restricted is the calm choice.

The V20 Pro in practice

Comfort and riding position

The frame size is 75 cm, the frame entry is high and the bike suits a height of 150 to 200 cm. So parents and taller children ride the same fatbike. The extended saddle and ergonomic handlebar give you an upright position, so you look out over the traffic. An air-sprung front fork and extra rear suspension absorb cobbles. To be honest: 34 kg is a heavy lift. LED lighting and rear indicators keep you visible in the dark.

Battery, display and charging

Out of 720 Wh you get 60 km on average: towards 75 km in a low setting, around 45 km with a passenger on the back. Charging takes 4 to 6 hours. The battery is locked with two keys and charges on or off the bike. Battery and charger are included. The LCD H6C display shows your speed and ride data.

Tuning: what is possible and what is allowed

The Tunable version can be tuned up to 45 km/h, provided your bike has a red motor plug; for that there is the tunable controller with red motor plug. With a black motor plug 32 km/h is the maximum, so check the colour first. The original H6C tuning display has a killswitch: back from 45 to 25 km/h.

Service, warranty and delivery

You get a 3 year warranty on the frame and 1 year on the battery and moving parts. Boxed, you assemble the fatbike yourself; Assembled means that we build it up, adjust the brakes and check the battery. Ordered before 23:59, delivered tomorrow in the Netherlands. Delivery to Belgium and Germany is available.

The Ouxi C80 Family Edition shares the core: 250W, 48V / 15Ah / 720 Wh, 60 km on average and room for 2 with an optional rear seat. It weighs 36 kg, the V20 Pro 34 kg. You order the V20 Pro as Tunable right away; the C80 you tune with separate parts.

V20 Pro versus Ouxi V8 Ultra Max

The Ouxi V8 Ultra Max rides further: two 48V / 15Ah batteries (1440 Wh), 120 km on average, tuned up to 50 km/h, plus NFC locking, an alarm and footrests for the passenger. It does weigh 40 kg. If your rides stay within 60 km, you lift 6 kg less.

The V20 Pro is also available in black and dark grey, with identical specifications.

Do I need a licence or a helmet for the V20 Pro?

No. In the Restricted (250W) version the V20 Pro counts as an electric bicycle: no licence, helmet, registration plate or insurance. Riding tuned on public roads is not allowed.

How far do I get with two people on one battery charge?

On average you get 60 km. With a passenger the consumption rises; count on around 45 km then. A low setting and good tyre pressure help you towards 75 km.

Am I allowed to use the tuned V20 Pro on public roads?

No, that is only allowed on private or enclosed property. On public roads the pedal assist stays restricted to 25 km/h. With the killswitch on the original H6C display you switch back quickly.

What warranty and maintenance come with the V20 Pro?

You have a 3 year warranty on the frame and 1 year on the battery and moving parts. Check the hydraulic brakes regularly and keep the tyres inflated.

Can I fit a rear seat and does the bike suit my height?

The V20 Pro is suitable for 2 people with an optional rear seat; the extended saddle gives an adult room as well. The bike suits a height of 150 to 200 cm.
